How to Block Spam with Spam Traps

Spam Traps are simply dummy email accounts that you can have your ISP set up. They are actually real email accounts that you dont plan on using in your normal email correspondence. One of spammers main sources of email addresses to send spam to is the internet itself. Many spammers will harvest email addresses off of online forums and message boards.

Other companies will sell your information to spammers. Any time you sign up for something online or anywhere else where someone is asking for your email address, you will give out the dummy email account.

You can check the account every so often for anything that might be important to you, but at least the spammers will not have your real email address and you will get much less spam in the long run. This simple tactic takes little effort and goes a long way towards keeping your email box spam free.
